Abstract

Metal lamps from Olbia and Tyras, unique finds in the ancient settlements, are presented in the article. There are four Tyrian and six Olbian items of different time periods: from the 6th century BC to 6th century AD. The dating of the lamps was performed not only based on their morphology, but also on found analogies made of metal and clay. Bronze and lead lamps are presented. It should be noted that the metal lighting devices served as prototypes for the clay ones, the more common and cheaper in manufacturing. The occurrence of the later examples of lamps in Olbia and Tyras can be explained by the Roman presence in the designated region and by other factors. The article complements the catalogue with detailed description, lamps parameters, as well as storing places of the finds.
